In today’s dynamic SF food truck scene, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the myriad menu choices available to you. Long gone are the days of the typical taco truck. These days, San Francisco’s curbs and food truck meetup spots play host to a wide array of restaurants on wheels, run by current chefs, former restaurateurs, or just folks with an entrepreneurial spirit and a true love of good food. Ocean Beach is a must-visit if you want to truly experience San Francisco. This strip of beach, directly west of Golden Gate Park, provides compelling views and experiences no matter which way you turn!

China Beach | 490 Sea Cliff Avenue

China Beach is one of San Francisco’s hidden gems. This well-kept secret is a small, sandy beach surrounded by cliffs. The beach can be reached from the parking lot found at the west end of the Seacliff neighborhood. Walk down the stairs (or use the accessible ramp) and you will find yourself immersed in a secluded beach cove that was named for the Chinese fisherman who used to camp here. The beach is surrounded by breathtaking rock formations and close-up views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The first privately financed ballpark in Major League Baseball since Dodger Stadium (1962), the Giants’ new home features an inspiring nine-foot statue of America’s greatest living ballplayer, Willie Mays, at the public entrance; Portuguese water dogs who fetch home runs that splash into McCovey Cove (named after another Hall of Fame Willie); an 80-foot Coca-Cola bottle with playground slides and miniature AT&T Park behind left field that has become a magnet for kids of all of ages. Grab your baseball cap & glove to enjoy a San Francisco summer’s afternoon or night watching the World Championship Giants play a great game of baseball.

102nd Annual Bay to Breakers | May 19, 7AM-12PM | Embarcadero

Thousands of athletes from around the globe will take over the streets of San Francisco for the 102nd annual Bay to Breakers, one of the world’s largest and longest running footraces. This classic 12K (7.46 miles) is a long-standing tradition that attracts an eclectic mix of more than 50,000 participants including elite athletes, centipede teams of 13, celebrities, costumed racers, corporate co-workers, families, marathon runners, weekend walkers and more. If you are not partaking in the event, individuals still dress up in teams to show support to the runners and walkers taking part in running/walking festivities! Price: Adult Admission – $58 & Child Admission – $53

SF Carnaval | May 26-27, Starting at 9:30AM | 24th & Bryant to 17th & Harrison 

Experience the best of the Latin and Caribbean cultures at San Francisco’s very own Carnaval. This festival is a feast for the eyes – beads, feathers, fringe, and glitter galore. Bringing together a multitude of cultures, Carnaval hosts many events over Memorial Day weekend, including a two-day festival. Price: Free

14th Annual San Francisco Guiness Oyster & Musical Festival | June 1, 11AM-6PM | Sharon Meadow, Golden Gate Park

This event is the largest Oyster festival on the West Coast! With over 250,000 attendees to date and well over 500,000 Oysters consumed, this is one San Francisco tradition that you won’t want to miss. There will be a number of very interesting sideshows including the Shuck and Suck Competition, Oyster History Exhibition and Oyster Cooking Demonstrations. A play area will also be set aside for children.Though oysters are the main theme of the festival many alternative choices of cuisine will be offered. A wide variety of beverages will also be available, ranging from beer, wine and premium spirits. *Happy Hour: All alcoholic beverages will be $1 off until 2PM. Price: $30 per Ticket and additional costs very depending on your appetite!

The San Francisco Burger Brawl | June 8, 11:30AM-7:30PM | Fort Mason Center, Buchanan Street at Marina Boulevard

Welcome to The San Francisco Burger Brawl.  San Francisco’s First No-Holds Barred Burger Event on where 20+ Restaurants and Food Trucks will battle it out to be named winner of the brawl! San Francisco is a foodie town, and everyone claims to have the Best Burger, or know where to get the Best Burger.  Here is your chance to take part in the Royal Rumble of Burger Battles on June 8, 2013. Price: Lunch & Dinner Sessions – $8 General Admin & $35 for VIP; Visit their official website for admission details.

Summer Solstice Twilight Walk and Wine in the Redwoods | June 21, 6:30PM-8:30PM | San Francisco Botanical Gardens

Join in on the celebration of the longest day of the year, sipping California wines, nibbling local cheeses, and trolling through the 100-year old Redwood grove on a guided tour as the sun goes down. 21 + Price: $25 per Person

America SCORES San Francisco Beach Soccer Blast | June 22 & 23, 9AM | Ocean Beach

A one day, fun and exciting beach soccer tournament starting on Saturday playing through Sunday. Games start at 10AM and will finish by 4PM. On the soft sand where The City meets the sea is the perfect place to spend a summer-soccer day with your team. Beach soccer is played 5v5 (4 on the pitch plus a GK) which provides a small-sided environment ripe for player development. Any team can enter, but you must register your team in order to partake in the games. Price: $300 per team

America’s Cup: Louis Vuitton Cup | July 4 – August, Races Start at 1:15PM | America’s Cup Village at Pier 27/29

Piers 27/29 are free to enter and include food & beverage booths, entertainment and race show program. Marina Green offers free and paid grandstand seating as well as the America’s Cup Village. Back in the United States for the first time in almost a decade, the Cup returns in style with exciting new boats, a new format for the racing, and television and web coverage that takes the action directly to the viewer. Price: $259 – $403 to gain access into grandstand seating areas, otherwise free to enter Pier 27/29, America’s Cup Village and the Marina Green.

Fillmore Jazz Festival | July 7-8 | Fillmore District, between Jackson & Eddy

Our very own Fillmore District has seen some of the biggest names in music history perform on its streets and stages. During the WWII-era, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holliday belted out soulful songs, while people like Marilyn Monroe and Clint Eastwood would watch in admiration.In memory of this historical site’s greatness, this eclectic neighborhood hosts a free annual Jazz festival, where you can listen to some soulful music, eat a wide range of savory meals, and even see some local arts & crafts. Price: Free


Outside Lands | August 10-12 | Golden Gate Park

Look out, Coachella and Bonnaroo, this 4-year-old festival nestled in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park is garnering quite a following and a plethora of amazing artists fighting for the stages. Headliners: Stevie Wonder, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Skrillex, Sigur Rose, Passion Pit, Fun, SantigoldPrice: Regular 3 Day Pass – $220, Single day passes will not be sold until dates closer to the event.

Festa Coloniale Italiana | August 17, 11AM-6PM | North Beach Area of San Francisco

Ciao! Ciao! Ciao! It is what you will be saying all day at this Italian festival. Italy is a major tourist destination for people from all over the world. If you have not made it yet, or are looking to relive your glory days abroad, come on down to the Festa Coloniale Italiana. Watch pizza dough fly in the air and gorge on the best Italian fare this side of Siena.
